Early Career
Conforti quickly rose through the ranks of the Argentine Air Force, and by 1930, he was a captain. He was a gifted pilot, and he was known for his exceptional skills in aerobatics and formation flying. The Flying Tigers
In 1941, the United States entered World War II, and Conforti was eager to join the fight against fascism. He resigned from the Argentine Air Force and joined the American Volunteer Group, also known as the Flying Tigers. The Flying Tigers were a group of American and Chinese pilots who fought against the Japanese in the China Burma India Theater.
Conforti flew numerous combat missions with the Flying Tigers, and he quickly became one of the group's top pilots. He was known for his aggressive flying style and his ability to outmaneuver his opponents. Conforti was also a skilled marksman, and he was credited with shooting down several Japanese aircraft.
Post-War Career
After the war, Conforti returned to Argentina and rejoined the Argentine Air Force. He continued to fly for many years, and he eventually rose to the rank of general. In 1955, Conforti was appointed commander of the Argentine Air Force, and he served in that position for two years.
Conforti retired from the Air Force in 1962, but he remained active in aviation. He wrote several books about his experiences as a pilot, and he became a popular speaker on the subject of aviation. Conforti also served as president of the Argentine Aero Club for many years.
