Synopsis
To Die but Once is the 15th novel in the Maisie Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear. The story follows Maisie as she investigates the mysterious death of a young woman during World War II.
In 1940, London is under siege from German bombs. Maisie Dobbs, a private investigator and former nurse, is hired to find out what happened to Sarah Beaumont, a young woman who disappeared during the Blitz.
As Maisie investigates, she uncovers a web of secrets and lies. Sarah was a member of the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS),and her death may be connected to her work. Maisie must race against time to find out the truth before more lives are lost.

About the Author
Jacqueline Winspear is the New York Times bestselling author of the Maisie Dobbs series. She has won numerous awards for her work, including the Agatha Award for Best Historical Novel and the Macavity Award for Best Historical Mystery.
Winspear was born in England and now lives in California. She is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, and has a master's degree in English from San Francisco State University.
Winspear is a passionate advocate for historical accuracy and social justice. She is a member of the Historical Novel Society and the Crime Writers Association.
