When the Nazis invaded Poland in 1939, Isabel and her family were forced into the Krakow Ghetto. In 1943, she was deported to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. Isabel was one of the few members of her family to survive the Holocaust. She was liberated from the camp in 1945.
